Local festivals in Caldes de Montbui
The Festa Major is usually celebrated over several days around the second weekend of October and continues into the Capvuitada until the third weekend. The opening firecrackers, gathering and dance of the giants, casteller day, sardanes, stick dancers, satirical verses and correfocs fill Plaça de la Font del Lleó, Plaça de l'Església, Parc de Can Rius and other venues. The Town Council and dozens of cultural, sports and social organisations organise the festival.
Capvuitada and Aplec del Remei
The Capvuitada extends the celebration through the following weekend and culminates in the Aplec del Remei gathering. Residents, local organisations and the Facultat de Sant Antoni Abat participate in the event and the traditional ascent of carts towards the sanctuary. The union of the Festa Major with the Aplec del Remei was established in 1861 and continues to shape the October festive calendar.
Other celebrations: Escaldàrium
Escaldàrium, the Fire and Water Festival, is usually celebrated during one July night in Plaça de la Font del Lleó. Nine dances alternate fire and thermal water in a performance organised by Ball de Diables, the volunteer fire brigade, La Forca, the Orquestra de l'Escaldàrium and the Town Council. The children's Templàrium and the Judici extend this celebration linked to the town's thermal waters over several days.
