Local festivals in Badalona
Usual date and duration. The Festes de Maig bring together activities for several weeks around the 11 May, día de Sant Anastasi, co-patron of Badalona. The most symbolic moment comes on the night of the 10th with the Cremada del Dimoni on the Pescadors beach, a tradition recovered in 1940. The party extends along the Rambla, the Plaza de la Vila, the promenade, streets and cultural facilities.
The Festes de Maig combine music, shows and popular culture with the Cremada, correfoc, parades, gegants, castells and family activities over several days around Sant Anastasi. The separate Festa Major is also held in August.
Traditions and participation. The Dimoni, built each year with a different design, burns before the public after the pyromusical. Popular culture entities, colles de fuego, human towers, musicians, neighbourhood associations, families and visitors participate together with the City Council in streets, squares and on the beach.
