Local festivals in Argentona

The Sant Domingo main festival is usually celebrated over several days around 4 August. The Town Council, associations and volunteers fill the streets, Plaça Nova, Plaça de l'Església and other venues with an opening speech, giants, parades, devils, music, sport, food and fire events.

Jug Festival

On 4 August, the Jug Festival continues the old Sant Domènec gathering documented since the seventeenth century. After the service, the Vot de Poble and the blessing of the water at the Sant Domingo fountain, giants and big-head figures accompany the jugs; water games and the traditional Aixecada de Càntirs strength contest connect ceramic heritage with popular participation. The celebration took its present form in 1951.

Other celebrations: Sant Julià winter festival

The winter main festival usually occupies the second weekend in January. The service dedicated to Sant Julià, the Tres Tombs procession, giants, devils, music and a craft and food fair bring the parish, committees, cultural associations and residents together at the church, Plaça Nova and the town-centre streets.
