Pandorga, August Fair and Ciudad Real holidays

The most typical celebration of Ciudad Real is the Pandorga, whose main date is 31 July. It was born as a popular tribute to the Virgin of the Prado and maintains the proclamation of the Pandorgo and the Dulcinea, the parade of clubs and folklore groups and the offering of flowers, fruits and farm products in the Cathedral. The day before, the Limoná Contest is held at the fairgrounds: families, associations and groups of friends prepare this traditional drink, while the Zurra brings together youth. Although the traditional core occupies the 30th and 31st, its cultural duration extends throughout July.

Pandorga brings together activities throughout July, with its main events on 30 and 31 July. These include the Limoná Competition at La Granja fairground and celebrations at the Antiguo Casino, Paseo del Prado, the Cathedral and central streets. Participants include the Festivities Department, the Brotherhood of Pandorgos, local clubs, choir and dance groups, security services, residents and visitors.

The second major celebration is the Fair and Festivities of the Virgen del Prado, held from 14 to 22 August. The fairground hosts rides and concerts, Plaza Mayor stages the traditional Baile del Vermú, and the patron saint processions take place on the 15th and on the Octave, the 22nd.
