Local festivals in Antigua

The Nuestra Señora de la Antigua Festivities are usually celebrated through 8 September in the municipal capital and its church. The opening address, community meal, pilgrimage and offering to the Virgin, peal of bells, religious service and procession bring together the festival committee, associations, folk groups and residents.

Other celebrations across the communities

Patronal festivities take place across the municipality: Nuestra Señora del Cobre in Los Alares, Virgen del Carmen in Las Salinas, San Isidro Labrador in Triquivijate, San Roque in Valles de Ortega, San Francisco Javier in Las Pocetas, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Agua de Bueyes and the Fiesta de los Peregrinos in Casillas de Morales.

Virgen de la Peña del Mar in Caleta de Fuste

Caleta de Fuste honours Nuestra Señora de la Peña del Mar in October. The main day combines Mass with a sea-and-land procession around the harbour; divers' floral offering to the submerged image, parrandas, batucadas and rondallas link seafaring devotion with the cultural life of the coastal community.
