Local festivals in Sestao

The patronal festival of San Pedro, centred on 29 June, is Sestao's main celebration. The Town Council, festival committee, cuadrillas, associations and cultural groups take part in a programme held in Plaza del Kasko, central streets, courtyards and other municipal venues.

Usual celebration

San Pedro is usually celebrated over several days in June, with the opening txupinazo, music, romerías, street parades, giants and big-head figures, children's activities, sports events and events organised by the txosnas. The patron's day closes the festival period and preserves the link between the popular celebration and local tradition.

Programme for 2026

The institutional programme ran from 19 to 29 June 2026. It included concerts by El Drogas and Neomak in Plaza del Kasko, an ETS performance in Parque de Las Camporras, a romería with Akerbeltz and contributions from local groups. Orquesta Vulkano closed the festivities on Monday 29 June, San Pedro's day.

Local public holidays in 2026

The calendar published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia set 31 July, San Ignacio de Loyola, as a non-working holiday throughout the historic territory and 29 June, San Pedro Apóstol, as Sestao's municipal holiday. Both were paid, non-recoverable public holidays in the municipality in 2026.

Other cultural events

Carnival, the theatre and music-school programmes, neighbourhood activities and initiatives connected with the estuary's industrial heritage complete Sestao's cultural calendar.
