Local festivals in Ermua

The Santiagos patronal festivities are usually celebrated with their central days running from 24 to 27 July. The opening rocket begins a participatory celebration in which txaranga bands fill the streets with music and colour, alongside dancing, food competitions, sport, performances, communal meals and activities promoted by many local groups.

Folk culture and associations

The Larraindantza, the Day of the Regions and street parades reflect Ermua's cultural diversity. The Town Council, associations, regional cultural centres and musical groups work together on events held in Cardenal Orbe square, 8 de Marzo square, parks and streets across the town centre.

Other celebrations through the year

Carnival retains the Eguen Zuri and Hartza Eguna traditions, as well as costumes and street parades. Santa Águeda brings traditional singing to the streets every 4 February; the San Lorenzo festivities anticipate the atmosphere of July, while the regional centres maintain music, dance and food gatherings throughout the year.
