Local festivals in Pasaia

The usual celebrations of Pasaia's four districts extend over several days in summer. Pasai San Pedro honours Saint Peter around 29 June; Pasai Antxo celebrates San Fermín around 7 July; Trintxerpe honours the Virgen del Carmen around 16 July; and Pasai Donibane dedicates its late-July festivities to Santiago and San Ignacio.

The bay, rowing and maritime tradition

The relationship with the sea runs throughout the festive calendar. The streets and squares of Donibane host habaneras on Santa Ana night, a San Pantaleón sardine gathering, a batel parade and trainera rowing regattas; in Trintxerpe, devotion to the Carmen brings fishers and seafarers together. Drum parades, txistularis and bands connect all four districts.

Other celebrations in the districts

Festival committees, associations and cultural groups organise opening rockets, giants and big-head figures, bertsolari performances, food competitions, dancing, music and neighbourhood gatherings. Each district retains its identity, while joint opening events and the participation of groups from across Pasaia reinforce the municipal character of the celebrations.
