Local festivals in Elgoibar

The San Bartolomé festivities are usually celebrated for several days from 23 August around the patron's feast. Foruen Plaza, the church, pelota court and streets host mass, sokamuturra, a street band, concerts, drumming parades, pelota, fireworks and popular activities. The Town Council, parish, Mauxitxa street band, music groups, societies, cuadrillas and residents sustain the celebration.

Baserritarra day and Trinity fairs

During San Bartolomé, the Baserritarra fair brings cider and cheese competitions, livestock displays and auctions, farmstead produce and rural sport together on the last Saturday in August. In late May or early June, depending on the religious calendar, Trinity combines an agricultural and livestock fair for Elgoibar producers with crafts, a pilgrimage and demonstrations in central venues.

Other celebrations: San Antón and Gabon Zahar

On 17 January, San Antón honours the town's second patron with cultural and religious events. On the last Saturday of the year, the Gabon Zahar fair fills the streets with more than one hundred stalls offering local produce and livestock, alongside cheese, fruit and vegetable competitions. Producers, farmers, craftspeople, associations and the Town Council maintain these events together with festivities in the rural neighbourhoods.
