Local festivals in Santa Margalida

The Vila's calendar has two main highlights: the patronal festivities of Santa Margalida in July and La Beata in early September. The latter is linked to Saint Catalina Thomàs and fills the town centre with traditional figures, floats and music. Can Picafort and Son Serra de Marina have their own programmes within the same municipality.

Usual celebration

The La Beata procession takes place on the first Sunday in September. La Beata walks with xeremiers, country folk, dimonions, bands and floats portraying episodes from her life; myrtle, lanterns and folk music accompany the route. In July, the patron saint Santa Margalida is honoured with a solemn service, the Ball de l'Oferta and a procession through the Vila.

Other events

The municipal calendar also includes the Fira de Santa Margalida, the Mare de Déu d'Agost festivities in Can Picafort, the Son Serra de Marina festivities and Sa Rua in all three communities. The Town Hall, local associations, xeremier groups, bands and residents organise and participate in the programme.
