Local festivals in Maó-Mahón
The Festes de la Mare de Déu de Gràcia are Maó's main patronal celebration. From 6 to 9 September, the city hosts an opening address, giants, the mounted colcada procession and equestrian jaleo, religious events, music and neighbourhood gatherings, with Plaça de la Constitució at the heart of this Menorcan tradition.
Usual celebration
The horses and caixers of the colcada take centre stage on 7 and 8 September, entering the square for the jaleo. Giants parade through the city, rosewater accompanies popular events and street dinners extend the festivities across neighbourhoods. The Town Hall coordinates routes, transport, safety and services for a celebration that also reaches the historic centre, Es Freginal, Claustre del Carme and the harbour.
Other events
Performances at Teatre Principal, exhibitions and concerts at Claustre del Carme, harbour activities and the Sant Antoni celebrations add further dates to Maó's cultural calendar.
