Local festivals in Felanitx
The patronal festivities of Santa Margalida have their central day on 20 July. In the afternoon the Cavallets take to the streets with gegants, dimonis, caparrots and xeremiers, followed by an evening dance. This usual celebration brings residents, musicians and popular-culture figures together in the streets of Felanitx.
Sant Agustí and the August dances
Sant Agustí is celebrated around 28 August and its festivities last several days. After Mass in the Convent de Sant Agustí, the Cavallets appear again with gegants, dimonis, caparrots and xeremiers. Evening dances and musical gatherings are usually held in Parc Municipal de Sa Torre, organised by the Town Council with the participation of local organisations.
Other celebrations in Felanitx and its settlements
Other festivals include Sant Antoni on 17 January, with animal blessings, floats and bonfires in Felanitx, es Carritxó and other places. Portocolom honours the Mare de Déu del Carme on 16 July and Sant Jaume on the 25th; s'Horta celebrates Sant Isidre and Pentecost; Cas Concos, Sant Nicolau de Tolentí; Son Valls, Crist Rei; and Son Mesquida, the Immaculate Conception.
