Local festivals in Llanera

Exconxuraos is usually celebrated over three days on the first weekend in July at the Ables Fairground venue. The festival re-enacts the revolt of the council's inhabitants against the Bishop of Oviedo's excessive taxes in 1408 and the excommunication that lasted until 1412, turning this historical episode into a community gathering.

Re-enactment, parade and medieval dinner

The Ables site becomes a medieval settlement with a market, entertainment and performances. A knights' tournament, a parade of participants dressed in sackcloth and a large communal dinner are its best-known features. Residents, associations and re-enactors take part in a celebration recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest in Asturias.

Other celebrations: San Isidro

In May, the San Isidro livestock fair occupies the Ables Fairground for several days. Farmers and visitors gather for displays and activities connected with rural life, including ox-dragging contests featuring Asturian teams and entrants from other regions, maintaining Llanera's bond with livestock farming and country traditions.
