Local festivals in Gozón

The Cristo del Socorro festivities are usually celebrated over several days around 5 February in Lluanco/Luanco. Santa María church, the town's streets and its squares host Mass, processions, music and community gatherings; on the following day, a calderada stew of potatoes and rock fish extends the shared celebration rooted in the seafaring tradition.

El Carmen and the harbour procession

Around 16 July, the Nuestra Señora del Carmen festivities last for nearly a week. After Mass in Santa María, a seafaring procession carries the image towards Muelle Viejo; the Llamada a la Mar street parade, pipe bands, beach fireworks, cucaña, floats and open-air dances in Plaza de la Villa bring together the Town Council, cultural associations, seafarers and residents.

Other celebrations across the council

The parishes maintain sacramental festivals and meadow pilgrimages with bagpipes, dancing, barbecues and games. Santiago and Santa Ana occupy 25 and 26 July in Luanco with traditional contests, an outdoor country gathering and regional dances, while Bañugues, Verdicio, Manzaneda and Bocines preserve their own summer festival dates.
