Local festivals in Sanlúcar la Mayor
The May Fair is usually celebrated over several days and is one of the Aljarafe's most deeply rooted occasions and one of the oldest fairs in Seville province. The switching-on of the lights begins community life at the Real del Recinto Ferial, where casetas, sevillanas, horse parades and vaquero culture bring residents and visitors together.
San Eustaquio patronal festivities
Sanlúcar la Mayor honours its patron, San Eustaquio Mártir, around 20 September. A five-day religious observance is held at Santa María la Mayor parish church and culminates in the main service and a procession through the centre and the district that bears the saint's name, accompanied by confraternities, associations and the parish community.
Other celebrations: Holy Week and confraternity life
Holy Week shapes much of the town's festival identity. Seven confraternities make their penitential processions from Palm Sunday to Holy Saturday along routes linking parish churches, chapels, historic streets and the Carmelite convent. Bands, saetas and confraternities sustain this community culture throughout the year.
