Local festivals in La Puebla de Cazalla
The usual celebration of the Fair and Festivals lasts four days in the first half of September, with preliminary activities extending the occasion to almost a week. The fairground on Paseo Francisco Bohórquez hosts marquees, fair rides, festive lighting, music, sevillanas, equestrian displays, horse parades and fireworks. The Town Council, local associations, confraternities, sports clubs, riders, traders and families organise and take part in the festival.
Reunión de Cante Jondo
Reunión de Cante Jondo usually occupies a week in the first half of July and culminates at Hacienda Nuestra Señora del Carmen, known as La Fuenlonguilla. Recitals, dance, guitar playing, talks, exhibitions and training activities bring flamenco to venues across the town. The gathering was founded in 1967 by José Menese, Francisco Moreno Galván and a group of enthusiasts, and retains its distinctive closing round of tonás.
Other events: San Antonio pilgrimage and Carnival
The San Antonio pilgrimage is usually held over a spring weekend and brings residents, confraternities and groups of friends to the Arroyo de la Barca area for a community day in the countryside. Carnival includes a proclamation, street parades, performances and contests involving comparsas, families and local organisations.
