Local festivals in Alcalá de Guadaíra

Alcalá de Guadaíra celebrates the Feria de Alcalá, the patronal festivities of San Mateo and Virgen del Águila. The Town Council, Major Festivals Department, confraternities, booth organisers, associations, pilgrims, residents and visitors take part in a calendar of fairground life, worship, pilgrimages, flamenco and community gatherings.

Usual celebration

San Mateo's main day is 21 September. Its events last several days and include an opening speech, pilgrims' Mass, the pilgrimage from Parroquia de la Inmaculada to the pine woods, a triduum, the principal service and a procession through the city with carriages and horse riders. The fair runs from Wednesday to Sunday at the Recinto Ferial de San Juan, where booths, rides, sevillanas and performances link daytime and evening festivities.

Programme for 2026

The thirty-ninth Feria de Alcalá took place from 4 to 7 June. The fairground held 89 booths and more than thirty rides, with free performances in the municipal booth and reinforced public transport. The pre-fair included concerts on 22, 23, 29 and 31 May, and the fair's opening speech was delivered in the municipal booth on 29 May.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Regional Government of Andalusia lists 5 June and 21 September as Alcalá de Guadaíra's local labour holidays. The first falls during the fair and the second on San Mateo, but only those dates have official non-working status in 2026.

Other cultural events

Other events include the Virgen del Águila procession on 15 August, the Velá around the sanctuary, Carnival, Alcalá Suena and the Joaquín el de la Paula Flamenco Festival at the castle.
