Local festivals in Coín

The August Fair is usually celebrated during the first half of the month and culminates on 15 August in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta, the patron saint of Coín. Illuminations, casetas, music and community gatherings on Paseo de la Alameda and in the town-centre squares accompany the services and the procession of the Virgin.

A fair with historic roots

The fair traces its origin to a privilege granted by Charles III in 1765. The patron saint’s day combines the service and procession with the competition, tasting and auction of the Huevo de Toro tomato, a tradition linking the celebration to local market gardening and farming in the Guadalhorce Valley.

Other events and traditions

The Real Feria de Ganado precedes the main fair and preserves the town’s livestock and trading heritage. The Town Council, the patron saint’s brotherhood, associations and local producers take part in a calendar that also includes spring celebrations.
