Local festivals in Baeza

Baeza has two major festival cycles: Holy Week, connected with its confraternities and monumental setting, and the Feria y Fiestas in honour of Nuestra Señora del Alcázar. The Reales Fiestas del Concejo for San Andrés and the World Heritage city's cultural calendar complete the year.

Usual celebration

Holy Week in Baeza, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest, occupies the whole of Passion Week with processions through historic streets and squares. Twenty-three confraternities and brotherhoods take part; highlights include the Miserere in the cathedral on Tuesday night, the El Paso ceremony on Good Friday and the sculptural heritage carried through the monumental centre.

Programme for 2026

The 2026 Baeza Fair ran from 12 to 16 August. The opening parade brought together the town band, giants and big-head figures, brass bands and themed street performers; the fairground, Parque Leocadio Marín, Teatro Montemar and the bullring esplanade hosted music, theatre, children's activities and the daytime fair. The main service, floral offering and procession for Nuestra Señora del Alcázar took place on 15 August.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Andalusian Government resolution designates 14 August and 30 November as Baeza's local non-working holidays in 2026. The first falls during the Fair, while the second coincides with San Andrés; neither date on its own defines the full duration of those celebrations.

Other cultural events

The Reales Fiestas del Concejo honour San Andrés in his district with worship, a medieval market, music and the eve bonfire. La Noche del Patrimonio, Semana Machadiana, the Early Music Festival and Renacimiento a la Luz de las Velas extend cultural participation through the year.
