Local festivals in Alcaudete
The Royal Fair and Festivities are usually celebrated over five days in mid-September. Parque de Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta becomes the fairground and hosts marquees, rides, music, daytime festivities, giant and big-head parades, Horse Day and the traditional fruit auction. The Town Council, associations, families and visitors sustain an event centred on community reunion.
Usual celebration of the Virgen de la Fuensanta
The vigil and pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Fuensanta usually last several days around 15 August. The pilgrimage travels from Santa María la Mayor church to the sanctuary, where decorated carts make an offering and the programme includes dawn mass, music and gatherings in the gardens. The brotherhood, parish community and residents take part in the transfer and events honouring the patron.
Other events: Calatrava festivities
On the second weekend of July, the castle, park and historic centre host the Calatrava festivities over several days. A medieval market and camp, parades, combat displays and a re-enactment of the assault on the town recall Alcaudete's frontier past with the participation of historical groups, musical ensembles, associations and local authorities.
