Local festivals in Padul

The San Sebastián festivities are usually celebrated on 19 and 20 January. On the eve of the feast, families and groups gather wood and aromatic plants in the nearby hills to build large bonfires. The image then travels through the streets from San Sebastián chapel to Santa María la Mayor church amid the fire, the scent of the plants and widespread community participation.

Royal Livestock Fair and popular festivities

In late September, usually from the 24th to the 27th, Padul holds its Royal Livestock Fair and popular festivities. Their origins date back to the reign of Charles V and preserve the town's historical connection with livestock trading, alongside marquees, rides, music and gatherings in the main tent and fair venues.

Other celebrations: Holy Week and San Isidro pilgrimage

Padul's Holy Week brings brotherhoods together between Palm Sunday and Good Friday, with processional floats, street processions and living tableaux through the town centre. In May, decorated carts and pilgrims accompany San Isidro Labrador through the streets and continue to the pilgrimage camp, where mass and a family day link the celebration with the countryside.
