Local festivals in Loja

Feria Grande brings together festivities in the town centre and at the fairground with traditions connected with the patron saint, Virgen de la Caridad.

Usual celebration

Feria Grande is usually celebrated over several days in late August. The daytime fair occupies Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza Joaquín Costa and Carrera de San Agustín, while the fairground hosts the booths, rides and evening concerts. The Town Council, associations, horse riders, performers and residents take part in the opening speech, gatherings, music and religious events.

Programme for 2026

The institutional programme sets 25 to 31 August for Feria Grande in 2026. It announces daytime and evening fairs, Children's Day, Concurso de Trovos, pre-fair competitions, concerts in the municipal marquee, a horse-riders' gathering and the traditional Quema del Roscuelo. The closing day on 31 August includes the Virgen de la Caridad procession and fireworks.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Andalusian resolution initially set 25 April and 29 August, but a later resolution changed the second date for road-safety reasons. Loja's definitive local public holidays in 2026 are 25 April and 4 September; they do not cover the full Feria Grande period.

Other events and cultural dates

Concurso de Trovos Ciudad de Loja, the town band and the horse-riders' gathering are cultural events associated with the fair. The documented municipal edition in 2025 also confirms Mirador de Isabel I de Castilla, Jardines del Paseo de Narváez and Iglesia Mayor as event venues, without presenting that earlier schedule as current.
