Local festivals in Albox
The Virgen del Saliente pilgrimage is usually celebrated overnight from 7 to 8 September and continues throughout the following day. After the novena, pilgrims from Albox and other towns walk to the Saliente Sanctuary, where visits, services, offerings and community gatherings take place around the image affectionately known as La Pequeñica.
All Saints Fair
During the days around 1 November, Albox holds a fair lasting several days whose origins lie in its former livestock market. Stalls, music, fair booths and the midday fair fill the fairground and town centre; the Town Council, travelling fair operators, hospitality businesses and local clubs preserve one of the Almanzora valley's most established gatherings.
Other celebrations: Holy Week and Easter outings
Holy Week brings together the Negro, Morao, Blanco and Colorao brotherhoods, Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Pasión, penitents, bearers and bands through Albox's parishes and streets. From Easter Sunday and over the following two days, families and groups of friends also preserve the custom of going into the countryside to share hornazos, migas, omelettes and the local cuerva drink.
